I have not really paid much attention to how an "official" Onken is defined. This series of speakers only borrows the idea of the sandwhiched slot port, and could well fall outside of the definition.

None of the Onken calculators were used in the development of these.

There is a long Onken thread which will tell you more about them.

Yeah, now I'm just curious as to the etymology of the name

Onken is a Japanese name made popular by the French. The original Onken was (probably) the Jensen UltraFlex.

At this point, with no suitable 8" on my radar, no.

If a suitable 8" appears and i like the driver, then i'll do one.

The latest family member is the Mar-Ken12 for the Alpair12. This one took some conceptual adjustments. Beta build underway.

Why is there no plot of the output of the fonken Planet10, I would like to see that on 3 meter. (FE127)

Correct.. Some background information showing the Japanese/French derivation of the Onken from the Jensen Ultraflex.. Here: Onken 360l Enclosure with Altec 416 drivers

I built one of the pairs of Onken's discussed in various Onken threads here at diyaudio. Mine use the Iconic 165-8G driver which is identical to the GPA 515-8G. (Altec 515)

Isn't a MLS measurement good enough. I do mine when I want precision outside cone facing towards the sky. To gather with MLS gives a very reliable result.
