Default Fostex Ribbons

Does anyone know where I can obtain more Fostex ribbons? At present I own 2prs of the FT7RP tweeters and 1pr of the FS21RP midrange. I'm looking for more FS21RP and FS41RP if possible!

Default Fostex ribbons

They are extremely hard to find. And even if you do find them, after 10
years of service they would need new foils ... by whom?A safer bet is to try to find the whole speakers that Fostex made and take them out...

Soundofvoid,

Thanks for your response however, that question of mine was written over 2 years ago! I've since gone the single "full range" speaker route and don't believe I'll ever go back from this path.

I'm presently using CarderSound Madisons which are a factory built ---{for non-DIY woodworkers like myself}--- versions of the Sachiko, which can be seen on the Frugal-Horn, site in the Spawn family.

Thanks for responding nonetheless!

Default DIY planar speakers

Good for you!The last two FS41RP units that were sold in german ebay
(in two different auctions a month apart) went for nearly 500 euros
a piece! That's mucho dinero for a decade old planars!I think people
were attracted by two facts:their over 90 db's sensivity and the fact
that at present time NOONE makes low-mid planars.Actually i haven't ever heard anyone making something like the Infinity L-EMIMS and Fostex FS41RP .Both are the same size (about 45X25 cms) but the Fostex one has a 4-6db's advantage in sensivity (rare earth magnets against ceramic 8's).I have searched a long time to find the Fostexes
at a reasonable cost and was unable! So for my next DIY speaker i will use the LFT-10 planar mid by Emminent tech. It's smaller, can't be crossed any lower than 200 Hz (agaisnt Infinity/Fostex's 100 Hz),but it's new ,servicable and can be ordered with neodymium magnets for a sensivity of 93+ dbs....

I'm sorry to inform you that I sold all my Fostex ribbons when I went the way of full-range and extremely wide-range Fostex drivers!

Hello Again Soundofvoid!

I sold them years ago and don't even remember who I sold them to! All I remember is they lived in California.

Sorry...
