What do you think, I have 225 ft of 8 strand solid CAT5. So by the time I remove the outside jacket I will end up with 1800 ft of 24 gauge wire. I will have to solder the ends to make that much but seems like a good idea, 16 wires per inch. I will never make enough speaker wire or interconnects with all that.

Its going to be a lot of work to untwist and strip all that. Wire is cheap. Get a roll of 24 ga. magnet wire. Save the cat 5 for computer networking.

How about Type 302/304 stainless steel tempered music Wire— 1- and 2-ft. straight lengths in the McMaster-Carr catalog pg 3459. This stuff should be very stiff and not need tensioning.

How are you going to make connections to all those steel wires?
I think you may have a hard time soldering to it... I_F |

Easy. Just use conductive circuit trace repair ink/paint or windshield defroster repair compound.
