Neo3 in dipole for sure. Couldn't stand the sound of the things with their back cups still on. Of course, you can't cross them over as low without them, but you seem to be using them for supertweeter duty so it will absolutely not be a problem.

Thanks Kensai, you are the second person who has recomended dipole so it will be done. I asked this because I have heard of some problems with dipole tweeters however those were specific cases.
In addition I have read that if M-T are dipole then W should be dipole. I really dont want to do this though, so is an ML-TQWT with a rear firing port going to bring the monopole behavior of a TL closer to the dipole nature of the M-T. My main concern is the figure 8 radiation of dipole and its reduced energy bouncing off my concrete walls from ~700hz and up while there is a spherical wavefront from 700hz down. I suppose this would cause alot of low frequency reflections off the wall muddying up this range. These two 8's "should" give me an f3 in the mid 20's in a TL w/o room gain(orginal goal), what size of baffle would I need to get an f3 of ~40hz in dipole? I will be building a sub for HT however I would like the mains to be able to reproduce the full audio spectrum on their own. |

Yes M-T is mid-tweet, W is woofer
ML-TQWT = Mass loaded- Tapered Quarter-wave tube. aka type of Transmission Line. Quote:

any idea how the BG would sound "screwed" to the front of an 11 " high, 22" wide baffle (MTM[MBGM or W/BG/W!])

Hi - I'm contemplating a similar 2-woofer design. Has the bass integration worked out well for you and how long is your tl? Thanks.

Actually with my senior year of Mechanical Engineering studies I have not completed the speakers, I can say however that the design has been adjusted to be full dipole. With this new plan I will now use a 15" Dayton IB in a 22" U-frame for bass and a radiused baffle for the two daytons. See pic

Hi, I'm new here, Building a small 5.1 with the B&G Neo 8's. Thanks for the info on the XO's. Was curious how your build turned out. I'm just getting started, Still waiting on the speakers to come...lol Using 4 1/2 inch 4 ohm Boston Acoustics to fill in my bottom end down to 55 Hz. Thanks guys for your pioneering work.
