and another one...

The stretching jig that came all the way from Huntingdon to Shenzhen.

If the pictures are up to date, it seems that the "new"
Quad is the same 988/989 under new clothes. (Which itself was esl63 face lifted...)

It is a pitty that after the late Peter Walker passed away, no one can really further develop his masterpieces.

Dear Khanate

In the past 20 or so years, since the introduction of the esl63, I am not aware to any attempts from QUAD to forward the product, beyond cosmetic changes to P.W design.

Further development can be in the form of a gradual evolution (usually) , and sometimes (rarely) in the form of a real revolution.

Some ideas?
maybe trying to make esl "satellites" for home theater system, ...or an active esl with a built-in switching amp? maybe development of mass production techniques to make the speakers more affordable?

Hello

the electrostatic panels used in the ESL-988 and 989 are exactly identical to those which are used in the ESL-63. Both speakers employ exactly the same delay line. However there are lots of differences regarding the transformers, pcb`s in the loudspeaker bottom and dustcover mounting.

regards, audiomatic
