Default Licron coating methods

Can one apply Licron 1/4" from inner perimiter area and run 2 paths out on diagonal corners? , or does it require the full copper contact under the spacers?
Thanks Al

I would work as you suggest but I think a full perimeter copper charge ring is more reliable in the long term.

1) Copper ring is one of choices. However, it important to make very good contact between copper and coating. This means coating at first, then gluing copper, and coating with higher conductivity(less diluted) coating on top of copper edges. Still, it is somewhat prone to chemical reactions and corona discharge.

2) Older formulations of Licron Crystal are prone to UV light and will lose conductivity if exposed close to a window. I am not sure about the newest ones though(from 2014 and up).

Regards,
Lukas.

My regular use ESLs are now about 2 years old. I used Licron Crystal on these and just did the test you described.

I detected a spot in one channel on a top corner that seemed to have a dropped output. I never had run this test before, so I don't know if it is a new condition, or perhaps I did not coat evenly enough at that corner. The other ESL seemed to have even output over the panel.

This is obviously a very subjective test, done with the ear while listening to music. On my new ESLs this seems like a worthwhile test to run using more objective means.

Tyu - did you detect such dropouts? Are these new or do you suspect they have been there all along?

My panels can be taken apart....for a recoat...An cleaning of the mylar....
The panels after just 2-3 weeks can have there wate in dust....
cleaning for max output is a must for me....
But if I was ever going to make a panel that you could not open....I would setup someway too ck for output dropouts.......just tape the panels togather for the test.
Thanks for the input..........
