Is there any easy way to inspect a magnepan?

After hearing that my Magnepans have been 'upgraded' im wondering what work was done,

is there any way for me to tell other then dismantling them?

Which model is it? You can try pointing a torchlight at the cloth. If you are lucky, you can see the cross-over in there and tell us what it looks like. Modifying the cross-overs is a common upgrade.
