Hi All, without even meaning to, I am jumping into ESL speakers. I am getting a pair of Sound Lab U-1PX speakers. The problem is that I have been running horns for the last 15 years and my biggest amp is a GM70 putting out 12wpc. I have read that there is something unusual about ESL speakers and amps. Something about a changing impedence. I am new to this so forgive me.
I know many people run OTLs with ESLs but I don't have that kind of money. A friend of mine was saying that the Son of Ampzilla is not effected by changing impendance and it would be a good amp to start with. Can someone enlighten me about what amp would be good for ESLs. Cheers. |

Here is a good place to start reading Material for ESL also the thread Step-up transformer design as well.
I will be posting some new information concerning my study of using toriodal power transformers to drive esl's in a day or two. I just want to make sure that my findings and data is correct before I post the information. So stay tuned, as they say. jer |
