Could be a good material.
No personal experience. The Dome Tweeter of the Celestion SL6 used copper as membrane material AFAIK. I personally liked the speaker. Celestion SL6 I don't know but copper may have more damping and less stiffness as AL. A ribbon which has a well adjusted fs not too far below its usable range and foil as thin as possible - why shouldn't it work ? Last edited by LineArray; 23rd February 2010 at 08:38 PM. |

yes, i have toyed with the idea a few times.i found that it is much heavier than aluminium. 3.5 times more to be exact .i could not find any thin enough to use. a couple of years ago i found some 100% copper leaf at a craft store it is about .1mil thick. but it is only a 6" by 6" square.however i did manage to laminate it to some .25mil mylar and thats as far as i got. i had lost the sample i made but i still have the foil i used and plan to prusue that project again.it was from a company called gold leaf and i believe it is still availible.jer
