Somebody in another thread mentioned using pantyhose as a support material for a ribbon. So this made me wonder why not instead use latex film as the base and glue stretchable aluminum fabric to it ? Or better yet take aluminum fabric and coat it with latex.

Also this naturally lends itself to weaving some Kevlar into that fabric for a bit extra resilience.

Has anyone tried unrolling an old metalised paper capacitor and cutting a long strip of that to use as the ribbon? Or perhaps the paper/foil combination would be too heavy?
