I'd like to dink around with ESLs, but I don't want to drop several hundred on a "final" setup. Is it possible to build/buy a kit that will make a table-top ESL for $50 or so? I obviously don't have much in the way of expectations from it, but if I can do it with a few 2x4's, a mylar balloon cut apart, a sharpie, and a wall-wart flipped around backwards, I'd love to see how they sound.
Thoughts? |

Hi
I also have some interest to this subject.A cheap and fun project for the rainy days.Maybe ESL or magnetostats with small (sub)woofer to replace the low quality computer speakers. There is interesting project few pages back : poor man's magneplanar tweeters. I may try something like that, possibly with neodymium magnets. But ESL would be nice also,as I have some future plans to build proper size panels ....
