The 48" ribbon in my Carver AL-III is intermittent. Goes from full on to silent or very quiet. Have switched crossovers and continues. Sometimes piano frequencies have static. Any ideas?

Sounds like your ribbon or its contacts are broken. Give bohlender grabener a callhttp://www.bgcorp.com/ . They had a replacement for the ribbon at one time (maybe still do). They may even be willing to repair yours (though I bet that wouldn't be cheap).
Looks like PartsExpress sells the Carver replacement Ribbon at PE |

Thanks for the diagnosis. May give BG a call. Didn't know about PartsExpress. Looks like they have the replacement, but is expensive. I had the speaker apart once and re-soldered some contacts. May try that again.
