For those of you who can read Dutch, my colleague Frank Verwaal has made a web site which documents all his experiences and calculations about electrostatic loudspeakers. He has dug into the theory quite thoroughly. You can also find my high-voltage amplifier design report there, after clicking on "hoogspanningsversterker". The HV amplifier stuff has summaries in English.
http://home.planet.nl/~faaverwaal/index.html By the way, my HV amplifier was no success, because their 2000V peak output voltage was just enough for soft background music on Frank's loudspeakers. But with a better power supply and some other modifications it may be possible to boost it up to 5kV and gain 8dB. |
