I found a pair of ESS Performance Series with an 8" woofer & 10 inch passive radiator at a yard sale, all of which had completely shot surronds.

I replaced the 8" woofers with Dayton Classic Woofers and repaired the 10" passive radiator with a 10" rubber inner tube and some automtive glue.

They do not have tremendous bass but the sound is otherwise truly excepional.

Well guyz, i rescued a pair of ESS Performance Series - Model 8 loudspeakers from a friend's cellar.

Front view (woofer's knocked down)

The Woofer (...destroyed)

The Tweeter (AMT !?!)

The Crossover (poor, isn't it ?)

The question is: except tweeters, what should i keep ?

Re-surround those woofers and give them a few hours to grow on you.
