LATEST REBUILD.

Have finished the membrane and will be putting it in place tomorrow. So I can compare it to the other I built with a different membrane material. I have taken pictures, and will be putting them on site. I still have many more rebuilds to do. Including both neos and ferrites. I had to cut more foil in half with my scissors. I will have to cut more foil in half.

rebuild of 19 year old heavy ferrite frp.

here it is in pictures.

new home theatre set up.

Have finished rebuilds apart from choosing what to cover them with. I will have 11 speakers, 7 at the front and 4 at the back, all are full range planars using neos and ferrites, although I may use all neos in the future. I haven't made my mind up yet.!! 2 of the front speakers are sub woofers using ferrites. I am in the process now of making my cables from 1 mm cable. I have made the first 38', only 5 more to go. Will have used 600 meters of 1 mm cable by the time I have finished. Have to take my time as it makes your fingers sore plaiting that much cable!! Then I have to position on the walls. I will be using the ONKYO TX-N3007 AV RECEIVER. Having looked at the manual, I have found I need another 2 speakers near the front so that is 13 speakers all together, plus the 8 speakers I already have for my SONY receiver. Wish me luck.

MY 9-2 SET UP FOR MY NEW AMP

Have finished the placement and wiring of my 13 full range planar set-up took me longer than I thought must be getting old! Harder than building the speakers. I used over 520 meters for the cables platted the lot myself. Not too bad on the fingers. I used 6 lengths for each speaker cable. There are a couple more pictures of the main speakers and the 2 sub woofers these are both ferrite driven. I still have to make some cable to join the output of the av amp to a separate valve amp to drive the sub woofers. The AV amp does not have speaker output for the sub woofers. When I have finished this I then can use the microphone that came with the amp to set up all the 13 speakers. Wish me luck. I will be glad when it's all set up correctly. I hope!!:D

9.2 SYSTEM UPDATE.

Have finished covering my 9.2 full range planar speakers! Using the sewing machine was harder than building them, and more frustrating. Breaking threads all over the place, glad I have finished them:mad: Have still got more rebuilds to do mostly ferrites. Will be putting some more videos on utube. When I have found all the different music off my cards! Will be playing some piano music, as this is one of the hardest to reproduce correctly!!??

9-2 Amp parameters

Could spend the rest of my life trying all the different parameters available with my new 9-2 Amp. But I don't have enough patience to do this or time left!? I wish there was an automatic program you could run on your computer which would do it for you!!

Thank you both for your kind words, I am lucky that I live on my own so I can do what I like, lucky me!!! I know its a big problem when you are married. They are very hard to please, at the best of times. Still you could always turn them into pictures with a very nice subject to please the better half! Or get a big garage in the garden and put them in there! The 60 x 40 mm is a very good size, you get good bass as well. As I said there just the right size for most hiding and disguising situations. Better than the large APPOGEE and MAGNAPAN sized speakers and a lot cheaper as well.

LATEST REBUILDS FERRITES

The holographic ones are the latest rebuild and the blue ones are the next. They were both doubled up ferrites and very heavy. Have used the 23 micron membrane with the thinner width alu tape. This makes them more sensitive and very much lighter and frees up more magnets for other designs. The MDF is the new frame for the blue speaker. The white one is the old one made out of an old wardrobe door so was free. The magnets have been re arranged in a single layer. Doubling up the magnets was a complete waste of time and magnets, for no benefit whatsoever.:(
