Okay, my prototype speakers are together finally!!!!
Except one thing, no step-up transformers.
Finding them wasn't as easy as first thought, but the panels are together and looking very nice... I will get some pictures up as soon as I get the film developed.
If anyone can suggest a good transformer supplier in Australia preferably, but worldwide suppliers are ok too, could you please tell me?
It doesn't have to be too over the top as these are my first panels so there will be a lot of modding and tweaking to come.

Lucas Cant at Black Art trannies in Melb, Lancroft in Sydney.
And possibly Metaxas who I recall had some diy e-stat speaker stuff that they were selling.
Don't know if they do esl trannies as stock but both would likly do them as a special order.
Sowter in England do e-stat trannies too.

mmmmm I checked all of those sites and the prices are fairly high considering my budget :/
I am waiting on an email for http://www.tubehifi.com/Output-Index.htm regarding whether the impedances quoted on their website are for either side of the centre tap or not.
opn25p-5 or opn30p-5 were said to be OK for ESL's my MRehorst if the impedances quotes were for either side of the centre tap.

If you are looking for a decent step-up transformer, and you are on a budget, you can try a tube step-down transformer in reverse. www.tubesandmore.com Look for the audio output transformers. I bought a pair of P-T 1609 's and was pleased with the result. I am not saying that there aren't any better trannies out there. But, this was the cheapest that I could find, and it sounded decent enough for my ears.
They seem to have international sales as well. My suggestion is to try them out and see if your ears demand better. They are only $37.

But, this was the cheapest that I could find, and it sounded decent enough for my ears.

all seem to have the same transformers at about the same prices... I think I will just order the 125E from the first Australian site, even though the frequency response is kinda shoddy... but my logic is I can use those transformers in a hybrid ESL configuration where I won't need the extra bass response... even the top end is also cut off a little bit also, it will fit into my budget a lot better as I have been spending a bit getting all the necessary tools and things to build my amplifier which I just ordered (Kel84 from world audio design) @ ~$900 AUD, $200 of which is shipping
phishead8, those trannies are cheap, but the shipping costs 2/3 the price of the product which is the bad part :/
$50USD to ship two of those $37USD p-t1609's to Melb/Australia... which is about $90AUD, when you consider the cost for two of the trannies is $134AUD you can see how it seems kinda hard to justify the cost, especially for my first pair.
When it comes time to make a quality full range pair of ESL's I think I will opt to hand wind my own.

Hi everyone... I am back after a while away from the net and the likes due to some personal problems.... but glad to say I should be back here regularly again for a while to come.
As for my ESL panels... they are done just didn't get around to the transformers which is about the time I was away from the boards...
I got the guy at work interested in making a pir of these speakers now so I can see about getting some good transformers as he is prety good when it comes down to locating stuff as he manages all the supplies for the factory etc.
So I will be posting here very soon with the results.

Funny just the other day I posted to the guy who was looking for tweeters and suggested he build some ESL tweeters. I told him about a design I built yeas ago where I had four long ESL panels configured in an X formation. Think of it as two V's point to point. The diaphragm of the front V faceing you have both thier drivers fireing forward the diaphragm of the back V fire (both) bachwards. So the fore and aft sections are dipole lets say positive while the two side sections (at the same instant) are dipole inwards. As the speaker cycles (as a whole) you have two alternating dipole sections. This was a cool idea but my knock up of it at the time left a lot to be desired. The beast did work but due to very hasty construction and not enough thought the output was very low but the idea was seen to work. Have fun. Check out useing some cheap 70 volt line transformers running backwards to drive your panels, they can work very well. They are a fast available and inexpensive (a handfull of dollars) to buy.
