Making piezoelectric crystals

This may be about as "exotic" as we get here, but I'm interested in making my own piezoelectric crystals, knowing this isn't going to be hi-fi.

There's a great Make Magazine video on making Rochelle salt crystals:

... and ammonium phosphate crystals seem pretty easy. There's also Barium Titanate although I think I need an industrial kiln to work with it :)

Sooo, has anyone done this here? I'm curious as to tips/tricks to making larger crystals, if putting a current through the solution does anything, if its possible to get them to grow on a copper wire to ease wiring later?

Anyone?
