Hi,

I've played a bit with thin alufoil ribbon speaker (0,6my)

measurement can be found here(sorry danish):
HIFI4ALL Forum: Bånd diskant, verdens letteste membran?

so IMO the measurements look promising, but the problem is that the ribbon is so light that it's not possible to firmly allign in the magnet gap.

The airflow from a person passing will make the ribbon fluctate heavily.

So I came up with the Idea to make two layers of alufoil with a insulator inbetween, and then let a small Bias current run through the ribbons. The Bias current should push the ribbons against each other. In this way I hope to get a nice sandwich which has a good damping, and still is light, since there's no need for glue.

The weight of the Aluribbon is not a problem, I asume 15mmx150mm has the weight of aprox 2.4mg. The insulator will probably anyway be the main contributer to the weight. I was thinking about using silk or paper as insulator, any other suggestions?

It might the idea won't work, but I think it's woth the try.

I'll post measurements as soon as I made a setup.
