When they say the diaphragm / voice coil can't ground the magnetic circuit is probably completely on one side of the voice coil, which is at the edge of the diaphragm.

They offer nothing on the website other than nebulous words.
If and when they offer something of substance, perhaps we will all know...

They also say there is "predominantly open area" behind the transducer.

I had a brief trawl using some patent literature searches at esp@ce, but could not find anything that appeared to correspond with the minimal description offered on the website.

What is notable, is a huge number of planar transducer concepts for audio, most of which are aimed at some particular, "low fidelity" application, but solve a different problem e.g. minimal space occupancy.
