Oh no... different "matching" going on.

The way that a McIntosh ouput transformer for tube amps, OR the ouput "transformer" (I think it is an autoformer) for solid state amps work is entirely different than the way a transformer is used to match to an ESL's capacitive load.

Well, the outboard impedance matching t-formers I spoke of I believe preform a similar function as the output t-formers on Mac solid state amps. That's to say the amps see a stable impedance. Capacitance is, of course, another issue and I'm allowing the original ML crossovers do their jobs. The outboard t-formers are for impedance matching only and are placed between the loudspeakers and the amps.
