This Taobao board (USB input) coupled to a pair of home-made transformers (its output is balanced, needs step down too) kicks the *** of plenty of much more expensive DAC+amp combinations for driving headphones up to 600ohm impedance. Transformers I'm using are PQ50/50 ferrite cores, you'll also need a supply, a laptop brick @ 19V will do fine.

Cheapest option I've found so far: A sub-$10 used 1st gen 802.11n AirPort Express. Just found another this weekend.

Thanks for the linux-sunxi links, Jerms. That table is handy. Too bad no one on mainlining support for I2S or the onboard codec on the H3.
