I want to have separate stereo speakers with a "wireless" connection to the source.
The speakers will be L & R on each side of a fireplace so no wired connection is possible.
Anyone any ideas how ????

So in other words you want a bluetooth receiver in each loudspeaker, or similar and choose between left or right channel on the loudspeakers, but have them synchronised to the same source?
I am doubtful that this is possible with any off the shelf units as bluetooth sync is flakey at best.
Wireless Audio IC - Wireless Audio SOC - Overview - TI.com
Could transmit audio around wirelessly in a number of ways. BT receiver in one loudspeaker along with one channel of amplification, transmit to the other loudspeaker via the TI package then use DACs/amplifier etc as is necessary.

Everything is possible with enough money and time. Wireless SPDIF - some studio monitors can take in SPDIF and you can select which channel to output.
Or one of those wireless AV transmitters sold in TV shops.

Yes it is possible via Bluetooth, even more, you may have 16 speakers (8 stereo) working same time.
However this something which can not be done without some money (licensing and stuff).

Now you can JBL Control X Wireless | Powerful, expandable wireless stereo Bluetooth(R) speakers for home or on-the go . Not sure if there are cheap DIY BT boards that let you build your own speakers like that.
