Hi,

I am thinking of getting a Chinese SMT stepped attenuator to sit between a computer DAC and a Quad 303.

If I am correct, the input impedance of the Quad is 22k

QUAD 303 Specification (Powered by CubeCart)

Again I hope I read this right but the spec sheet for the DAC chip states 1k ohm load impedance.

If it makes any difference, the input level for the 303 is given as:

"0.5V rms for 30 watts into 16 ohms"

while the output voltage for the DAC chip is quoted as 2.1 Vrms.

Again, not sure if it helps but the actual DAC is a Hifiberry, which is an i2s DAC for a Raspberry PI, the Quad is driving some ESL 57's, and the attenuators I'm looking at can be found here:

There is a choice between 20k, 50K and 100K. I want to try this route out as currently the DAC connects directly to the amp, which sounds great, but obviously not a good idea.

Thanks for reading
