in my windows xp under control panel. sounds and devices
i am unable to set the volume of the mic at level 1. it just shows a range from min to max. but no numerical value. Last edited by zuki; 14th July 2012 at 05:36 AM. |

Could be adjustable gain is not available on that particular sound card.
Just a thought. |

At the bottom right near the clock, do you see a speaker icon for audio settings? If you right-click it, select Open Volume Control, you see the mixer with a list of controls.
This would be more than just the volume control. Mic input should be on of the options. If it not an option, select Option at upper left and select, then Properties. Look for a list of available volume controls. Find Mic in the list and check it. Also check off Advanced to see more settings by going back to Options at the top of tool bar.

set it to minimum, then press once, the arrow key that will increase the value.
I suspect minimum is '0'. Zero what though is another discussion (Zero gain? Zero level?) |
