Are there any computer equalizers for download? Not a player, but just an equalizer.

I'm also wondering about this. I did a search here, and found several that people recommended, only to find that they were demos that wouldn't leave some sort of "thing" on my recording.
I'd also like to know if they "do it in the digital domain" or do they impart some sort of degradation.
I' copied stereophiles disc to my laptop and played it through windows media player.
Then I set my dB meter at my chair, recorded all the test tones (20Hz-20kHz)
Did the same with the actual cd. And there was a big difference of up to +/- 6dB in MANY different frequencies..
What I thought before I did this was that I would want to raise 500-1.6kHz and lower 2kHz and 6kHz.
But thru windows media player, the inverse was true!
Sorry I didn't help much.

even i am trying to find one.... that would help me to understand how my system would sound when i correct curves (including room curve corrections). before i implement it on hardware. that would be of gr8 use to me. rather us.

a VST?
KVR: Audiocation Equalizer AQ1 - Virtual Effect

I would look on for VSTs. Some players like Winamp and foobar support modular plug-ins, that's another option.

Eq plus other functions Plug in for Windows media player, can be downloaded but must purchase a key.
