How can I correctly encode Dolby Pro Logic 1 (the one with just one rear speaker) from my PC? I've got a USB sound card, and using my onboard HD Audio is not an option because it blew out or something - it won't even show up in "lspci" under Ubuntu Linux.
I'm currently quadruple-booting OSX64 10.5, Windows 7 64 ultimate, Ubuntu 11.04 ( ), and Windows XP 64. I run most of the time under Win7 so I'd like a solution mainly for that. I want it to work across the board in all apps that can provide surround sound: mainly games, video and upconversion from stereo music.

Is the USB sound card multichannel or is it connected to a receiver that needs encrypted SPDIF to handle multichannel?
Since the designers of these encryptions have as far as i know refused to provide specifications and documentation so no open implementations exist. Only exception I've read about is Dolby Digital which supposedly is encodable through ALSA. |
