Thought I'd give PC based source using FLAC files a go. Downloaded EAC intending to start slowly, and came to a roadblock almost immediately.
Using EAC in Beginner Mode, I've made several attempts to rip a cd to C: simply as it's recorded. I keep getting files that play fine, but have no gap between tracks from a cd that contains them. Poking around in EAC has not revealed a means to ensure the as recorded gaps or where a manually entered time between tracks can be set. I then downloaded MediaMonkey and get the same result. Since I have the same problem with 2 different programs, it seems I'm missing a basic technique. Would somebody mind helping a newb, here? |

I've had so many quirks with EAC that I don't use it. Audiograbber works great for me. I've had some damaged discs that EAC essentially did no error correction as there was garbage all over. Audiograbber salvaged nearly all of it.

Menu item EAC>Options select the Extraction tab. There will be a check box for "Delete leading and trailing silent blocks". I believe the Track At Once 2-second standard gap is just attached to the end of the audio data.
That same tab has an "Error recovery quality" pull-down. I use an old ver of EAC with Win98 to achieve IMO some pretty amazing recovery off of abused CDs I acquire. It doesn't work as well with Vista and Win7 versions. I prefer to not have a bunch of silence at the track ends. I've made 1- and 2-second silent files I can program between songs if I feel the need to. EAC, CDex, and Goldwave are my Big 3. I'm very satisfied with results I get. |

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I'm running Win7. Think I'll be trying some of these other rippers, EAC has yet to strike me as being very "newb friendly".
As Grandpa was wont to say, " Sirs, you are gentlemen and scholars, it's a pity there are so few of us left."
