Hi npetralias,
I searched a long time for a player with the optimal sound quality. I have tested a lot of players like: Stealthaudioplayer, XXHighend, Foobar, JriverMC, XMPlay. They all sound different, one is better then the other, but I think Pureplayer sounds the best. What I don't understand is why they sounds different? They all pretend to be "bit perfect"? Is it only jitter what makes the difference or are there some inaccuracies in the signal processing of the other players? Is the sample rate over the USB or SPDIF interface determined by the software of the PC or is it only hardware?

The best sound I get is with pureplayer combined with Fidelizer. Fidelizer optimizes some priorities of different software tasks and does something with a clock. It improves all players bit still there is a difference between the players.
Anyhow, thanks for this great player.

Hi npetralias

I must be blond (which I'm not by the way ), but when I load a cue file for a single file album, they only thing that happens is that the single file flac gets converted into a wav-file, as a single file for the whole album still, and no navigation is possible between the tracks as defined in the cue file.

So still nothing has been done with this cue file.

As I said, I must be blond, but I just don't get it how Pure Player handles cue files.

Selecting the cue file and press "split cue" also doesn't do anything but presenting an explorer window with temp.cue which doesn't have any meaningfull content. It says decoding track 1 but nothing actually happens with splitting based on the cue file.

Strange...you can check the option "Show commands" to see more info.
Do you have the latest version (2.7)?
You can send me (just) the que file to npetralias@gmail.com to check...

Very good question...
I really don't know
While experimenting with other players, i 've noticed that a wav file sounds better than the same flac, as well as full memory buffering and high runtime process priority. So i decided to make a simple player that follows these rules.
Fidelizer "helps" the user-oriented processes to run better by minimizing the OS influences. A major improvement is to disable virtual memory.

I believe that all these differences should not exist in a proper designed-implemented operating system...

Default Plays multiple tracks at once

Hello. I agree, the sound quality with Pure Player is very good. I currently go back and forth between Stealth Audio Player and XMPlay that have very similar sound quality and it seems Pure Player is right in line with them. But I am having a problem where the player starts playing multiple tracks at once. When I load a directory and begin playing, the player will correctly play one track, then the next. But after two or three tracks, it begins playing all of the rest at once so there are actually three or four (or more) songs playing at once. I am currently using version 2.7. Any suggestions?

Default network player as it is

I would like to ask some clarification regarding these ''network media players'' like for example SONY SMP-N100, NAD VISO THREE, etc.
As all of them have USB inputs and claim to play almost everything,
Could someone help me understand their ‘‘architecture’’?
I guess that right after USB input stands some PCM 27__ or similar,
then some kind of microcontroller which runs an application like Foobar, JRiver, Pure Player, etc.,
but what comes next?
Do they have classic DAC chips like AD,BB,CS,AKM,ESS or they use some kind of universal Madiatek chipsets?

This sounds very similar to a problem I am getting with 2.7. Version 1.2 is fine. Sometimes it will play whole albums fine, other times it skips tracks completely and plays some tracks at the same time; sometimes it plays just one track but 2 copies of it slightly out-of-sync, giving an echo effect . Pretty weird ! I am using XP SP2 , loads of RAM and CPU running at about 5%. I really rate PurePlayer - prefer it to JRiver and Foobar - seems more natural and relaxed (until it starts 'skipping' that is !)

For sound quality comparing to Foobar, i just can say sometime the same sometime just diferent. But just found out when in playlist there 2 files with 2 character (in filenames) different extension (my case mp3 and flac) these files played at the same times, when that happen i just press stop then press play again, files played normally( pure player ver 2.7).
