Here is a design I made for the PCM2706. It is based on info from
PCM2706 High Fidelity USB Soundcard / USB Headphones I took away the buttons and stuff because they were driving me crazy. It also has less vias. Be sure to put the polarized caps on the right way, because some are backwards on the silkscreen. Just follow the power traces from the chip. Also, put the audio jack and the crystal on the underside of the board, not the top. You may need to solder some wires around the board, because it's hard to reach underneath the USB port. It's a mess, but it's my first project. |

I selected the highest quality parts by spec, then selected the cheapest out of that bunch. It still sounds great. Don't buy the SPDIF connectors. There's a resistor that wasn't in the parts list on the original site that's required to prevent it from blowing up. If you want that you'll need to redesign the board. |
