Use Octave/Matlab for filter generation?
Does anyone have any experience producing filters in Octave (or Matlab) for use in convolution software?
Or any other ways? I'm looking for something substantially free-er than buying Audiolense or Acourate. I know about DRC - I want crossover/eq functionality as well. At current I'm using VST equaliser plugins. Thanks :) |
Haven't used Octave for filter synthesis. Haven't used Christian Budde's open source EQ and crossover VST plugins either. Nor Robin Schmidt's freebies. Also haven't used the PLParEQ lineup, but base pricing starts pretty low.
I have done filter synthesis in Matlab and it's straightforward. I'd expect the same of Octave. Thuneau's stuff is under half the price of Audiolense or Acourate. I've had quite good results with it. |
