But before I say "yes" to your generous offer, I need to know something.
These are "V" parts and I know they come (or did come) in "G" , "B" , and "V" versions. NP stated in another thread that he used the "B" version. What are the advantages / disadvantages of the three versions? Would I need to make any component value changes for the Ono in order to use these "V" parts?

In this particular circuit the Idss current rating of the K389 does not really matter. If this is your only opportunity to get this transistor I would say go for it.
Having said that, the V rating is more rare and hence more expensive than the usual BL variety so it is better left for those applications where you need to run them at higher currents and really need the V type.
