Base output for XBoSoZ

I got a active subwoofer which I would like to connect direct to my XBoSoZ. The active woofer got a RCA input from a "LowPass" output on a pre-amp. How can I fit such a "Low-pass" output to my XBoSoZ without disturbing the mids and highs.

I can connect the active woofer with another method by running my power amp's outputs 1st to the active woofer then connect my speakers to the outputs on the active woofer, but when I tried this way, I noticed a huge lost in the highs.

Any suggestions?

Try running the power amp's output first to the mid/top
speakers and from there to the subwoofer. Whatever is
killing the top end may be in series inside the sub electronics.

but it's a good question: how does a parallelled sub+low pass with speakers alter the sound going to the speakers?

if you couple a line input to a speaker out, you put in a -20dB
resistor network eg: 47k in series with ls-out to line-in and from there 4k7 to ground. Its impedance is very high (about 10000times) compared to a speakers imp. -> no interaction

You are correct. I opened the sub this afternoon and noticed that it got it's own little amp indside. I could not trace the circiut very accurate, but when you use the "power amp in - speakers out" method, it basically just pickout the low signals, the main speakers does not actually go through the sub's circiut. This system works very nice on my home theatre amp, but then I use the "low pass" RCA connection.

So I still need a way to connect this sub direct to my line stage.

A bit off topic - I also noticed that the inside of the subs enclosure was only lined with thick cloth like material on the bottom and left side, can it be designed to work like this or should there be material on the inside top and right side as well?

Just to let you know:
After spending about 20hr's on this bass problem of mine, I found the solution. It was a combination of correct positioning of active woofer, correct volume setting and correct high cut setting on active woofer. Mr. Pass's suggestion also helped in the process. Thanx for that. It is now quit an experience to go for a ride on Glenn Miller's "Chattanooga Choo Choo"
