After following Algar_emi's distortion posts, (
Aleph 30 ) , I wanted to check my setup again for possible similar occurences. [Aleph30 via XBoSoZ] So I played a audio test CD with various frequencies from 40Hz to 20kHz at levels which was just comfortable to the ear, not that 10kHz and above are ever too comfortable While doing this I watched the response on the output terminals on a scope while also varying output levels. I could not find any distortion what so ever at any stage Could it be that I "stimulated" all the components and that they perform now better or is just that I "stimulated" my ears into more sensitivity? Did anybody else ever experience this before?

There are 'demagnetising' products that supply a diminishing level sinewave through the system, and these are reported to work well for priodically improving system sonics.
Running systems up reasonably hard with a sinewave sweep does seem to change the sound of a system. After a blanket resolder I find amplifiers change during the initial run up, and do not stabilise in sound, and sound 'wrong' until clip has beed achieved. Eric.

Aah, so it is a good thing to do this once a while. BTW I just noticed that I listened to Dr.Hook last night - late last night that is - while I don't own a Dr. Hook rather a Dr.John, quit a differance
