Dear NP, believe me, I'm not from IRS  , but I would like to ask you how many Aleph J left on your kitchen table?
On 8/16/06 you wrote: "I am at the production end of Aleph J’s, with about 10 units left. If you want a new one, you should get it soon. Yes, the service manual will be released after they’re gone."
Since then I'm checking your web site almost every day :Popworm:

Gotta send you a bottle of a good Nero d'Avola...... :drink:

firstwatt is great i hope np designs more products for it

Yeah, firstwatt is in my taste, too
I agree Nelson Pass should go a bit more for his
KISS things ( Keep It Simple )

this is what he is very good at
the sign of a real master

Think of
* ZENlite - using a light bulb, without heatsink, as load
* ZEN version 5 - dead simple symmetrical MOSFET amp

Myself was very surprised he ever went for the complicated X designs
It was initiated much of others
Really not what I would associate Nelson Pass with.

Using HEXFET and MOSFET and TRUE CLASS A in genius simplicity
this, to me, is what Nelson Pass is a master at
and will always be in my mind

now any person can have many sides - good as well as bad ...

lineup  has got many sides, hopefully mostly good

PS. johndiy. see you got yourself a free awardspace webhosting
like I have - - http://lineup.awardspace.com/
I have been having my free www.awardspace.com account since February 2006. DS

i agree with you but nelson can also design some
really cool complex things
i also prefer his simpler topologies more than
his more exotic ones

thanks to nelson you do learn some really cool
stuff from him and his mastery

i see quality in his simplicity thats whats most

supply of ideas of amps is cool

wrong

no matter is it X or XA in question- these amps are so elegantly simple.....

BTW,I wouldn't ever try to guess or make proclamation is it something appropriate to design or not....:devilr:

I think those X amplifiers comes no way near, what I would call simple.
But I guess I am not as clever as most are.
Now ZEN v5 ... this is simple to understand for me.

I too, have not judged anything as being wrong or unfitted.
Just said this:

Because this is where, in my humble opinion, his greatness comes in view:
Very simple, few parts designs.
And if you know about making simple,
it is one of the most difficult things you can do
in audio
if you want it to work in a good way.
Not many can make a simple amplifier
that is really worth the great effort it takes to simplify.

Besides, it takes a child or a genius to find those simple things!
;)
... in a world where: complicated, advanced = good
we could need some simplicity, for sure

To me Nelson Pass is no more of a saint than anybody is.
He is just a man.
This makes his work even more unique
... because saints can do magic
while we have to stay within the laws of physics.

lineup  have never had the slightest interest in Pass X designs
.... it is just out of my personal tastes and likings
:D
