I am going to build an mini Aleph, just bought the boards from BrianGT, and ordered the SM resistors and a couple of the transistors from Newark. Still need to buy the rest of the stuff from Digikey.
For the power supply, I have a couple of 225VA, 18v Plitron torioids that I plan to use for this project. I plan to make it full dual mono. I am simulating this with the Duncan amps PSU designer II program. For my tx, with just a cap, it will put out about 23-24 VDC, which is more than I want. If I make a CRC filter, using a smallish 3300 uf cap next to the bridge, 7 ohm R and 33,000 uf, then I end up with a little over 15V output of my PS, assuming a 1 A current draw. I might use a 10 ohm resistor, and end up with a 13 VDC output. I would use a 10 ohm because my local surplus store has 10 ohm, 25 W ceramic power resistors. In this link, http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...453#post131453 I saw NP recommend a min of 25,000 uf, after the series pass element of the PS. I figured 33,000 uf should be enough, based on that. Is this a reasonable PS for a mini Alepn? BTW, I have searched here, and researched this. Just want to make sure I didnt' miss anything. Thanks, Randy
