is this the circuit?
The Mini-A i am planning to build this circuit on veroboard because its pretty simple but is there anything i must take note of when arranging the components on the veroboard? Thanks! |

yup
that's that ![]() regarding physical layout- look for some nice pcbs of Alephs ( no matter what particular Aleph version, they mostly same stuff) and think-rethink. with observing things you can learn much; try to use mentioned input mosfets ,say, 9510 or 9610 ,even ZV (ZVP ?? dunno exactly) iterations (look for BillWW's mini aleph-he does pretty nice implementations of smaller mosfets in input LTP) ; for output mosfets use cheapest you can buy; you can hardly hear difference if you stay in mini boundaries. even IRF 540 and 640 are good enough tip-weaker mosfets-usually less gate capacitance-easier to drive

As far as I know, the Mini-A was the first small Aleph, although I've since seen variations on the theme. I've not built any of the others and have no opinion as to whether they're better or worse than the Mini-A.
There are things I'd do differently if I were to start the project today, but that's life. I've got a few ideas for variations that I'd like to try. I've got several of the things sitting around, including one running an old pair of Braun L810s in the living room. It's a 'normal' Mini-A built with junk box parts, though--not a research version. If my life ever calms down, I'm going to revisit the small amp concept and see what happens. For the moment, what little spare time I can scrape up goes towards Lovoltech power JFET circuits. Grey |
