Default Aleph wiring

Hello all,

I have been looking at the PCBs available for the aleph series, and have come to the conclusion that mounting the fets (to the heatsink) would pretty much be the hardest part of constructing an amp. I was contemplating using short lead wires to mount my fets a few inches from the PCB. Two questions:

1. Will this affect the performance and stability of the circuit, if so, how much?

2. What kind of wire would be best?

Cheers,

Greg.

1) No problems at all. You can go at least 6 inches to a foot
without giving it a second thought.

2) Metal wires are my outstanding preference.

Nelson,

Thanks for your reply. When you say metal wires, what exactly do you mean? Do you just mean single strand, solid cored wires?

Cheers,

Greg.

Do not try the "fly-leads" approach with Mosfet amplfiers, other than Mr.Pass' designs. They are sure to oscillate particularly with Lateral Mosfet Outputs.

Hahaha... Metal wires...

I tried different types of metal wires. And I found all of them worked the same. In short, yeah... metal wires!

Hahaha...

Default good liquid wire (mercury)

WIRE means solid state metal in elongated tube form isn't? never try plastic wire, must has a very high resistance value in ohms I guess

PCB make up of hollow tubes and fill with mercury may be better than copper as tracks, a thick pcb though, no no they expand too much with temperature rise, silly me...

I like to use tin-plated solid copper of 1.0mm-dia or 0.8mm dia.
Why? Mmm... tin resists corrosion. Of course, each diyer might have a different preference.
