Would the IRF510 be a really poor candidate to build an amp bassed on the original Zen? I can live with low power output.

I can attest that it makes a good candidate for the BOZ or the BOSOZ linestages, but I don't think it would last too long in a Zen.

I have used in in a mini aleph for the output once. I found at lower rail voltages it did not sound good. It needed to be at least 20 volts or higher. Also, it did not have a lot of bass. It seemed to do the highs well, but lacked control unlike the irfp240 or irfp044 mosfets. I had it heat sinked well and boy did I have it biased way more than I should. It was surprising at how much power I got out of it at that time. Bill |
