I have a noisy fan and would like to experiment with active noise cancellation to mute the sound. Does anyone know of a company that sells small active noise cancellation devises for this kind of application?

What about trying to find a more silent fan instead? There is a whole lot to choose from nowadays, when the manufacturers have finally realized that we want our PCs to be silent.

Good idea...except I was interested in fooling around with
ANC technology anyway. I am not aware of any small portable type devises...maybe I need to make one...wondered if anyone has tried that. |

Yes I guessed that might be the case, but it could also have been that you just wanted to solve a noise problem. One never knows, sometimes people look in the wrong place for solutions.
I don't know much about active noise cancellation, but I would guess it might be quite difficult with the type of noise you typically get from a fan. But that's mostly speculation from my side. I've sometimes wondered if it would be possible to use such techniques to make noisy neighbours more tolerable. |

Otherwise, many headphone units for shooting and loud situations are on the market... Just some idea's |
