Question Searching the perfect Amp

Hy everybody!

I know this question was asked often beforeÖ..
I am going to build my first Aleph Amp(s), but I donít know witch one is the right choice for me or my speakers.
Here are the specifications of my SpeakersÖ
Nominal power handling 180W
Peak power handling 300 W
Nominal impedance 4 Ohm
I just want to know how many watts do my speaker needs for optimal sound. I donít need high volume. Iíve heard from some People that an Amp should deliver more Watts than the Speaker needs, or that the bass sounds better with more power, and other say that it is wrong.
So Iím a little confused witch Aleph I should build. My first choice was the Aleph 2, but the Aleph 4 is cheaper to build. Iíve read that the Amps have the same output power, but what is the difference, especially in sound quality. Or is an Aleph 3 or 5 good (strong) enough for my speakers?

Thanks for your help
The Usemen

It all depends how big you want your amp to be and what heatsinks you want to choose.

Aleph 2 is good all around choice and Aleph 4 won't be that much different. Probably your choice of parts will make bigger difference. Unless of course you want't to try an Aleph X....
ďDo something really well. See how much time it takes. It might be a product, a work of art, who knows? Then give it away cheaply, just because you feel that it should not cost so much, even if it took a lot of time and expensive materials to make it.Ē - JC
