hi
I just finish sound test on my new aleph 3 + tube preamp setup
and the sound is very good.

technical details:
-one transfo for both channels + 2 x 35A bridge +2 x 68000uF
-after separate LC sections for right and left
-total cap 408000uF +4 x 1.2mH
-25 v rail and 2A bias
-power supply ripple is 25mV
-hum is very low
-oversize heatsink for around 40C to 45C after 3 hrs
-exactly 50% ac gain

-6SN7 5ma ccs gain=20
-6AS7 70ma cathode follower (beefy buffer :)) gain=.5 zout=100ohm
-total gain=10
-transistor HV regulator for low hum
-ac heater with 2x 33ohm to ground on heaters
-more hum with preamp ON but it s ok

my question is:

If i understand aleph 3 give second harmonic like tube
and for me a tube preamp is the natural way to go but
don t seem very popular on diyer so i would like
to get all your feedback , test, opinion, on
(tube preamp) vs ( ss preamp like boz) to drive aleph amp
for consequences on the sound

thanks

First Mr Pass thanks for your public aleph schematic
i m very happy with the result.

So i m not complely wrong with my tube preamp but
with just one answer i feel lonely :) maybe next
winter i will follow the main current with boz preamp
or maybe there is a new jfet preamp on the design
board like the new jfet power amp.
