I recall reading someone was going to mail Nelson there DIY Aleph X a while back for him to compare it to the real thing and get some feedback. Has this taken place yet?
What are peoples opinion who have built both a stock Aleph Vs. the X version? I'm currently building an Aleph 2 and will hopefully build an X in the future but until then I would like to hear some experienced opinions from those that have built both. Thanks MTJ |

I offered, but nelson is a busy man.
The only X amp I have listened to is an X 600.5. I can not compare that to the Aleph-X.

It depends on the skills of the person building the amplifier.
Commercial product has all the issues worked out and the amplifier has to run a gauntlet of tests before and after burn-in. |

The only person that has sent back my amps is you. Unless everone else is using them to tie up their Donzi's. What are you trying to say? OK, I did over bias that one amp.

I heard a XA 100 and sonic signature is the same as my Aleph-X (stock Grollins). But I did not a direct A-B comparison.

Hi,
I can only compare my Aleph 5 clone to my Aleph-X. In short: bass is faster, better controlled mids are less romantic/bloomy highs are more precise and offer a bit more information. The nice thing is that this doesn´t make the Aleph a bad amp. I still enjoy listening to it but, I like the X more. As a project the X was/is a lot more difficult and it is still not really finished (dc-servo is on it`s way......) William
