Question Aleph VS HK

ok, well
i have this Harman Kardon pm645vxi
http://www.harmankardon.com/specific...645VXI&sType=H

and i was wondering, should i launch myself in making a Aleph (2 or 3)

or should i keep my HK, do you guys think i would get a major improvement by having a aleph?

Considering i could also change caps i in the HK with some better ones..

Sorry Illianh for being off topic here!

Wuffwaff, Iīm planning on building an aleph3 next.
Why is there need for a preamp with the aleph?
Isnīt the input impedance high enough for just connecting a pot?

I think the alephs don't have as much gain, so to drive them to thier limits, you need a preamp.

Jens,

with only 20dB of gain it will be quite difficult to use a passive preamp unless youīve got really efficient speakers.

My preamp has 6dB of gain and with some records / cdīs I need to turn up the volume all the way.

Yeah, youīre right I donīt want to. Thatīs why I wanted to connect a pot=potentiometer.

Uups, think I have to investigate more into the subject.
I thought the Aleph is designed to be an independent power amplifier which means to me that itīll be driven to full for example by a CD-Player.
Is the ZenV4 the same??

(donīt beat me Iīm class a newbie and reading Nelsonīs patents is on my "soon-to-do-list")

So I have to build some preamp first heh?.........

Thanks in advance

You can crank up the gain via the feedback loop as much
as you like on any Aleph.
