During that same time period, my hair was twice as long. I wore it about elbow length or until it got onto the fretboard of my bass, whichever came first. That depended on how I had my bass slung. In the beginning, playing simple thud-thud bass lines, it was down on my thigh. Later, as I adopted more advanced playing styles, it crept higher and higher. You can't play worth a damn with your wrist at a 90 degree angle.
On the other hand, I'll bet Nelson enjoyed his job a great deal more than the one I had at the time, although we are both still employed in our same respective industries.

P.S.: I thought the moderators frowned upon porn, and here you are posting links to scads of the stuff. Shame on you, Nelson.

This goes back to something i have thought of for years now.
We have all heard about 6 degrees of Seperation. In hollywood, it all goes back to kevin bacon. In Audiowood, it all goes back to Nelson Pass!
Everything i find an audio item i like, i find N.P. had a hand in is somehow.

Pretty cool Mr. Pass... it looks like you've been able to do it "your way" over the years 🙂
Looking back just makes me wonder what you have in store for us next!
Keep up the good work.

That picture was taken at the Absolute Sound party in Atlanta
at the IHF show, and appeared in the magazine. The person
with his face obscured is another designer who apparently
did not want his employer to see such behaviour.

😱
It looked more like an SP-4 or SP-5. The SP-8 wasn't introduced until 1981.

The few times I talked with John at CES he needed a little "smoke" to mellow out.... He was always wound pretty tight. 😀
I wonder what became of him?

My guess: he did the Houdini act, went down under for a facelift and became Bruce Candy.
