How viable is the downscaling of ZV9 to half the original power? I am asking as I got in hand a nice chassis able to dissipate about 60W per channel and also as my speakers are more than 97dB I really do not need all that power.
I was thinking something like of 25-27VDC power supply. Any ideas-help? |

I have not built a Zen #9, but I can say from experimentation here that--at least in my design--there's a threshold value for the rail around 25-30V below which the performance begins to fall off. There's a smallish performance gain above that, but not enough to cause you to wet your pants.
I don't see any reason not to drop the rail a wee bit on a Zen 9. Grey |

By wee bit, I would say 40V rail with 4V loss on the cap
multiplier. |

Thanks alot for the replies!
Can anyone guide me towards what should be changed to the schematic for about 30VDC? I was also thinking, since the voltage will be lower to take advantage of "lighter" mosfets in order to gain from the higher transconductance these devices got(something like IRF610-620etc). |

After some copy/paste operations to the original schematic i think I managed to downscal the ZV9 to 30VDC power supply to suit my needs.
If anybody thinks there is some mistake, or place for improvement (always is) please post it. Any comments are more than welcomed! |
