Default Output capacitor in Zen 4

Hi All !!

I know that this subject was brought up sometime in september, but I stille have some doubt about the answer

I'm building the Z4 balanced, and understand that I kan exclude the capacitor C4, because of the balanced operation - can I also exclude C1 ??

Nelson stated that it was a good idea to leave them in, but I dont se why - if I connect the speaker + to R14 & R15 the capacitors will still be connected to each other - is this nesseceary ??

So, if they are nesseceary, I can use the cheapest caps available for C4, and spend alot on C2, that still is nesseceary to avoid DC getting through to Q1, the output mosfet - correct ??

Hope that someone would take the time to explain me all this

Cheers

Hans

My understanding (don't shoot me if I am wrong): The output capacitors are part of feedback loop required to prevent DC at input (Q4).

So, by connecting speakers on the 'inside' of the o/p caps (for balanced run) you eliminate 'bad' caps from the signal path - the speakers do not mind - same dc on both terminals. But, if you eliminate them altogether, Q4 is going to be very sad

Thnx alot JAG, for sorting that out for me - just what I needed to know!

So, I'll buy the best Caps for C2, and find some cheap stuff for the C4, and then connect my speakers before the output caps.

By the way - I wont shoot you if you proove to be wrong about the feedback - guns are, fortunately, incredible hard to get hands on for civillians here in Denmark

Cheers
