If this is for the ZenV9, yes 40mF is enough. It has a filter on the power supply line.

I have never tried Jensen 4-pole , but they can be good choice for this purpose. It's hard to find good elco cap for this position.

4 pole caps as output caps

Unless I am very mistaken the 4 pole Jensen T caps perform some kind of filter function, at least at high frequencies - hence 4 poles instead of 2 - and as such would not be ideal to pass a signal. What you could do is to convert them into 2 pole caps, i.e. parallel the 2 positive poles, and the 2 negative poles respectively.

Rail voltage

What rail voltage are you designing to? With that transformer I get either:

-- 18 Vac rectified to ~ 25V DC or ...
-- (2 x 18) rectified to ~ 50V DC

Hi Ryan

The plan is indeed to connect the two secondaries in series (see post #185).
By doing this I will end up with a rail voltage somewhere between 45VDC and 50VDC. So far nobody told me that this is not good so I will stick to my plan.
