Maybe this is the wrong forum, but I think that is the best choice...
A friend of mine has noted my work on building an Aleph-X with almost 40W output. He loved this design almost immediately, but also he immediately asked me how this Amplifier will work with his speakers. He owns a pair of ML Aerius that have a very low impedance at higher frequency (almost 1.7 Ohms). Do you think that this design will be appropriate to drive this kind of speakers? The concern is about the increasing heating in building a more powerful amp... Thank you! Fabrizio

The one and only

I haven't found the ML and most other stats a problem
with Aleph's because the impedance dip is up at 15 - 18 KHz, where there is very little actual energy, and so the amplifier typically doesn't run out of current. Over most of the rest of the band, say 100 to 5000 Hz, the impedance tends to vary between 30 and 8 ohms, and so it's not a problem there. Having said that, stats tend to be voltage hungry, and most people end up preferring bigger power amps. If you aren't planning on using this system for parties, it might be just fine. |
