Fired up both channels of my Aleph 30 last night... BrianGT boards. Both work. However, the three 5R's 3W (per side) on the PS got VERY hot. What is the total wattage I need on these R's. The supply is 3x22,000 per side. Each channel draws ~2.6 A and the unloaded voltage is about +/- 23VDC. Loaded on one channel it drops to +/- 22VDC.

If I do the W=VA thing I come up with VA=44*5=220 watts but I think that I really have to know the voltage drop before and after the R's, right?

I have a couple 2.2mH L's with no future. Should I use those instead?

Help a brotha out...

Peace/out

...and thank you in advance.

2.6 amps X 5 ohms is 13 volts. Times 2.6 amps is 33.8 watts.
2.6 amps X .5 ohms is 1.3 volts. Times 2.6 amps is 3.38 watts.
That is per rail per channel. So you need at least a 6.76 watt resistor for each rail @ .5 ohms.
Try a .2 ohm 5 watt. It will still get hot.:hot: :hot:
