I have posted few days ago a tread about some modifications. what I need to know, could I use 2,2mF/400V-MKP type to bypass zener diode Z5. Thank you, Regards, |

Hi,
2,2mF = 2200uF seems to be a bit big. Normally a 100-500nF should be enough. William

I have a 2,2uF/275v MKP, I can't find any other with lower voltage. So can I use them..... William, Sorry for bad typing. You suggest other value then many others??? Little bit confused....... Regards, |

Hi,
well since there is no current to speak of charging/discharging this cap and the main reason to put it there is noise reducting 2,2uF seems quite big (not only the value but also the size) That´s why I suggested 100-500nF. Probably you can go even lower. Nelson never bothered to put a cap here so maybe the input diff pair causes more noise than the zener........... Maybe someone made some measurements concerning the noise of the zener in the Aleph input current source? William
